about muse
Muse Magazine is a student-led publication based in Hangzhou CIS that strives to provide students with a creative platform through which they are able to safely find their voices and explore topics beyond the confines of a classroom. With works ranging from poetry, longer works, visual arts, and photography, Muse strives to not only showcase the student artistry that our community embodies but to also allow fledgling artists to amplify their innermost thoughts and emotions through each of our issues, ultimately allowing students to reach a wider audience and gain the recognition that they deserve.
So… how did Muse start?
Muse began two years ago with the HZ6 cohort, where we hoped to capture all the memories and experiences made during our year in Hangzhou. In particular, we strived to create a platform that served as an oasis in which students can find their creative voices and recognize the power that comes from using them. As our year is now over, we didn’t want to end it just there. Instead, we hoped to build a bridge between the Hong Kong and Hangzhou campus to show how the Hangzhou program doesn’t quite end in a year and that we can still explore these creative means and weave together the tapestry of both campuses. At the end of the day, our mission has not changed. We have and always will continue to foster the arts in our community, something we believe is worth showcasing.
As a whole, we hope that our readers will be inspired, challenged, and comforted by the plethora of voices captured within each issue.
