Submission Guidelines


Theme: kaleidoscope

/ˈkəˈlʌɪdəskəʊp/

noun

  1. A toy consisting of a tube containing mirrors and pieces of coloured glass or paper, whose reflections produce changing patterns when the tube is rotated

  2. A constantly changing pattern or sequence of elements.

What does kaleidoscope mean to you? Does it remind you of anything?

Submission Period: Jan 11th - March 14th

To submit, please email musemagazine@cis.edu.hk with the following: 

  1. Your submission(s) in Google Doc/PDF form

  2. The category of the submission (poetry, longer works, visual art, photography)

  3. A bio (50-150 words) detailing name, year level, interests, etc.

  4. A photo of yourself 

Note that 3 and 4 do not apply to anonymous submissions.

  • Work done in school will not be allowed


Poetry

  • Maximum length: 50 lines

  • Submissions can be in any language

  • If you have photos/designs you wish to include to enhance the imagery, please include them within the document as well as in the email as an attachment


personal essays

  • Maximum length: 5000 words/characters

  • Submissions can be in any language

  • If you have photos/designs you wish to include to enhance the story, please include them within the document as well as in the email as an attachment


short storIes

  • Maximum length: 5000 words/characters

  • Submissions can be in any language

  • If you have photos you wish to include to enhance the essay, please include them within the document as well as in the email as an attachment


  • Maximum word count: 5000 words

  • Try to include photos of the subject of the review or of the journey, although if the review is on something more well-known (movies, tv shows, etc.) then there is the option to leave it to us

    • Photos should be both on the document and attached to the email as either .jpgs or .pngs
